    Em 1967, MBB iniciou desenvolvimento do Bo 105, primeiro helicóptero comercial com sistema de rotor principal totalmente rígido (hingeless), eliminando articulações tradicionais de flapping e dragging. Cabeçote de rotor em titânio forjado e pás em fibra de carbono, engenharia revolucionária para a época. Voo inaugural em 16 de fevereiro de 1967 e certificação alemã em 1970. Tecnologia de rotor rígido virou referência para EC135 (1996) e gerou patentes globais MBB.

    MBB foi absorvida pela Eurocopter em 1992 (joint venture Aérospatiale + DASA). A linha Bo 105 continuou em produção em Donauwörth até 2001, quando o EC135 (certificado 1996) maturou e tornou-se o sucessor natural, mesmo conceito light-twin com rotor rígido, mas cabine mais espaçosa e quieta. Mais de 1.500 Bo 105 produzidos em 30 anos. Frota ativa em 2024 ainda passa de 400 unidades globalmente, com suporte Airbus garantido.

Graças ao rotor rígido e estrutura reforçada, o Bo 105 é o único helicóptero comercial certificado para manobras aerobáticas completas (loops, rolls, hammerheads). A esquadrilha 'Flying Bulls' (Red Bull, Áustria) opera Bo 105 em air shows mundiais demonstrando capacidades únicas. Manobra impossível para helicópteros de rotor articulado (Bell, AS350, etc.) por risco de mast bumping. Característica estrutural rara que perdura até hoje em frota Flying Bulls.

Padrão EMS europeu entre 1980-2010

O Bo 105 dominou o segmento EMS (Emergency Medical Services) europeu por 3 décadas, porta clamshell traseira grande facilitava embarque de macas e equipamentos médicos, twin-engine garantia segurança, performance hot/high adequada e custos operacionais aceitáveis. Para missões executivas premium, operadores migraram para H145, AW109 ou H135, cabines maiores, quietas e luxuosas. Bo 105 fica restrito a missões utility, EMS, militar e voos curtos low-cost.

Frota brasileira FAB e EsqdHA-1 da Marinha

A FAB operou Bo 105 designados como CB-105 (versão de busca-e-salvamento) entre 1980-2014 no Esquadrão Pelicano. Marinha do Brasil opera versão UH-12/UH-13 derivada do Bo 105 em pequena quantidade. Polícia Civil do Estado de SP (DEIC) operou Bo 105 nos anos 90 antes de migrar para AS350/H135. Frota brasileira civil sempre foi pequena (< 30 unidades), modelo nunca virou padrão como o Esquilo.
