    A Helibras (Helicópteros do Brasil S.A.) foi fundada em 1978 como joint-venture entre o governo brasileiro, Aérospatiale (depois Eurocopter, hoje Airbus Helicopters) e empresas privadas brasileiras, primeira fábrica de helicópteros em escala industrial da América Latina. Sede em Itajubá, sul de Minas Gerais (MG), em região com tradição aeronáutica próxima ao Inatel/CTA. Primeiro AS350 B Esquilo entregue à FAB em dezembro de 1978. Hoje 100% subsidiária Airbus.

  3. 2010 - Programa H225M Caracal expandiu Helibras para linha pesada

    Em 2010, governo Lula assinou contrato de USD 2,2B com Helibras/Airbus para produção local de 50 helicópteros H225M Caracal (rebranded EC725) em Itajubá, primeira vez que Helibras produziu helicópteros pesados (11.000 kg MTOW). Programa expandiu fábrica e empregos. Frota H225M opera com FAB (designação H-36 Caracal), Marinha (UH-15) e Exército (HM-4) em missões SAR, transporte tropas e operações especiais. Programa duplicou capacidade Helibras.
